Guys like talking about sports and women. But do guys like women talking about sports? We'll find out Feb. 1 with the launch of SportsBabes, a daily online show from SmashTube Productions, Los Angeles. A mix of traditional sports talk offerings and The View, it will feature "babes" who say they know their way around a locker room, including: Vicki Johnson, formerly at Speed Channel's Nascar Live; MarieSam Sanchez, a sports anchor in Los Angeles; Lauren Bergfeld, host at E! and MTV; and Marisol Salguero, L.A. Times sports. The show will air at SportsBabes.tv, then be syndicated via Google, YouTube, MySpace and other Internet sites; wireless availability is coming. Target audience is male/female sports enthusiasts ages 20-40. Marketing and sponsorships are via Sports Branded Media, New York.

"This is eye candy with a bucketful of sports knowledge," said Margot Rogers Ocañas, vp-business development at SmashTube. "We'll cover news, controversial topics, Super Bowl defensive alignments and Hollywood sightings of David and Victoria Beckham. But the [first] challenge is to make sure guys don't turn off the sound when they're watching."
